Iury Bessa

Mathematics

With a strong background in electrical engineering, Iury Bessa completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Federal University of Amazonas and his PhD at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, with a research period at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. As co-founder and head of the e-Controls research group, he is dedicated to developing automatic control systems that prioritize safety and reliability despite uncertainties such as system failures and cyber-attacks. His current research addresses the growing challenge of ensuring safe and resilient cyber-physical systems (CPS) operation in an increasingly connected world.

Beyond his dedication to research, Iury finds joy in spending time with his large family, whether traveling, watching movies, exploring new cuisines, or simply enjoying conversation. An anime enthusiast, board game fan, and nature lover, he finds a sense of relaxation and connection to the environment by escaping to waterfalls.
