Parent in Science

Events and Programs

Parent in Science is a project created by Fernanda Staniscuaski with the aim of discussing and bringing to light the impact of parenthood on academic and scientific careers, an issue hitherto neglected by the scientific community. Initiated to fill the gap in data and knowledge about how the arrival of children affects the trajectory of women and men in science, the project has already achieved significant visibility, but still has a long way to go.

Science / Events and Programs

As a way of engaging the scientific community in the discussion of issues relating to parenthood in Brazilian science, the Parent in Science group organizes symposiums on motherhood and science, raising the discussion of parenthood within the universe of academia and science.

Four editions of the Symposium have already been held, collectively thinking about issues such as the present and future of research institutions and plural parenting. See some of the papers presented in the event’s proceedings.
