Colóquio Diásporas Científicas e Colaborações Internacionais: Os Brasileiros no Exterior
Science / Events and Programs

The colloquium, held at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Maracanã Campus, on April 18 and 19, 2024, addressed the role of the Brazilian scientific diaspora in building an agenda for the internationalization of Brazilian science, focusing on two themes historically considered antagonistic: policies for retaining doctors trained abroad and strategies for engaging with Brazilian researchers based abroad. The event promoted debate on how these policies can contribute to science diplomacy that strengthens the national science, technology and innovation (ST&I) system and increases the global presence of Brazilian science.

The scientific coordination team was made up of:

Vinicius Kauê Ferreira (Rio de Janeiro State University, Brazil)
Julia Salles (Université de Montréal, Canada)
Francisco Loiola (Université de Montréal, Canada)
Ana Maria Carneiro (State University of Campinas, Brazil)
Amabilly Bonacina (University of Montréal, Canada)
Leonardo Francisco Azevedo (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – MN, Brazil)
