Mapping high-risk mosquito infestation areas on a large geographical scale

Computer Science, Life Sciences

This project tries to validate and expand the use of machine learning and computer vision models developed by the WildPixels project to map high-risk areas of mosquito infestation in Campinas. These models will be tested with data from Salvador, Bahia, and Luanda, Angola, to overcome the domain shift challenge and create a robust framework for large-scale risk mapping. This will support the surveillance and control of arboviruses, such as dengue, yellow fever, chikungunya, and Zika, aiding in predicting, preventing, and controlling future epidemics.
