New Chiral Metal Complexes: Unlocking the frontiers of asymmetric catalysis

Science / Chemistry

Catalytic methods for synthesizing enantiomerically pure compounds play a crucial role in preparing molecules of pharmacological and fine chemical significance. The systematic development of enantioenriched ligands facilitates the preferential formation of one of the enantiomers in reactions catalyzed by transition metals. The primary goal of this research project is to develop new classes of enantioenriched ligands and apply them in synthesizing novel chiral metal complexes. The research follows two paths: (i) the design of half-sandwich chiral complexes and their applications in metal-catalyzed asymmetric transformations; (ii) the synthesis of new heterobimetallic complexes and their utilization in processes involving at least two sequential reactions. The successful completion of this project will pave the way for establishing a new research area in asymmetric catalysis.
