Dynamic Origin of Geomagnetic Secular Variation Pulses in the Earth’s Core

Science / Ciências da terra

The rapid changes in the Earth’s core are known as geomagnetic secular variation pulses. Despite being the fastest of such changes, their physical origin remains unknown. Furthermore, there is a lack of literature discussing their primary characteristics, such as their non-simultaneous nature and their distribution on a local or global scale. These topics will be the focus of the proposed project. To address these issues, synthetic flux models within the Earth’s core will be utilized to solve the radial induction equation. The findings will then be compared with pulse data from magnetic observatories and satellites.
