Tiago Jalowizki, a geoscience scholar, earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, where he also pursued his studies in geology. He spent a portion of his doctoral studies at the University of Tokyo. Familiar with delving into the depths, Tiago researches a type of rock that is challenging to acquire. His research endeavors to depict what Earth was like a billion years ago. To achieve this, Tiago scrutinizes minerals and rocks from the mantle, a geological layer more than 30 km beneath the surface. These rocks can only be procured in the rare instances when a volcano erupts, expelling these minerals to the surface.
