Oceanographer Kátia Pinheiro holds a degree from the University of Rio de Janeiro, a master’s degree in geophysics from the National Observatory, and a doctorate in geomagnetism from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Nantes, France. Kátia has a deep appreciation for music, particularly Brazilian popular music and bossa nova, a passion that inspired her to name her dog Gal. She is also committed to promoting science education, which led her to establish a puppet theater project for children titled ‘An Adventure to the Center of the Earth.’ Since 2009, Kátia has been working as a researcher at the National Observatory in Rio de Janeiro.
