Data-driven biogeochemical dynamics

Computer Science, Geosciences

The project will use machine learning to extract governing equations of biogeochemical evolution of terrestrial systems from data. These simple and interpretable equations will help understand how climate change and other external factors affect the biogeochemical cycle, especially in ocean sediments. The central question is: with these equations, can we predict, identify, or control biogeochemical changes, such as animal extinction and diversification, due to external factors?
