María Ramírez Cabello

Journalism

A Venezuelan journalist with more than 17 years of professional experience, with a special interest in investigating and understanding the intersection between the economy, the environment, and human rights. She is a co-founder of the Venezuelan Amazon Journalists Network and a professor of investigative journalism at UCAB Guayana. She was a fellow with the Rainforest Research Network (RIN) and the Pulitzer Center’s Rainforest Journalism Fund. She contributes to international media and works on cross-border collaborative projects focusing on extractive industries, socio-environmental conflicts, and crime. She is a member of teams that have won the Gabo, IPYS Venezuela, SIP, and ONA awards.
