Reybert Carrillo

Journalism

A geographer who graduated from the University of the Andes, Carrillo has worked for environmental agencies in Venezuela, such as the National Parks Institute and the National Climate Crisis Observatory. He has been an environmental journalist since 2020, with articles published in national media outlets and contributions to international media outlets such as Deutsche Welle (DW) and BBC News.

The investigation will address the loss of flow and drainage of the Casiquiare Branch in Venezuela and the consequences for biodiversity in the Amazon and Orinoco basins.

It had the scientific collaboration of Luis Cattelan and Maria Luiza Busato, students of The Training Program in Quantitative Ecology.
