The Federal University of São Carlos is recognized for its academic excellence and social commitment. It was one of the first universities in Brazil to implement affirmative action and undergraduate student retention policies. It is a leader in the providing indigenous people with access to higher education. And it is now starting its affirmative action policy in graduate studies.The Pluralizar Program, coordinated by Anton Castro Miguez, will help to improve the process of democratizing access for and retention of students from underrepresented groups in the field of research.
