A report shows that, although many Ecuadorians and Colombians are unaware of it, some of their major hydroelectric plants—such as Coca Codo Sinclair and Guavio—depend, in part, on water flowing from the Amazon rainforest. Therefore, when the Amazon is deforested, residents of Andean cities may suffer the consequences.

It had the scientific collaboration of Sandro Pauli, student of The Training Program in Quantitative Ecology.
