A floresta sensível | Museu Goeldi
Science outreach / Art

The relationship of traditional Amazonian peoples with animals, plants and social and ritual life is structured based on their sensory relationship with nature. Inspired by this wisdom, the project “A Floresta Sensível” (Sensitive Forest), coordinated by the anthropologist and researcher at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, Glenn Shepard Jr., seeks to work on the senses of smell, taste, touch and hearing in scientific dissemination. In direct contact with the fauna, flora and other beings of the forests, the public will interact with museum installations in internal and external spaces of the Zoobotanical Park of the Goeldi Museum. The objective is to develop scientific outreach based on sensory approaches to indigenous perceptions and traditional populations of the Amazon forest.
