Cine-Cipó

Science outreach / Art

Filmmaker Bárbara Marcel transformed the Torre Alta da Amazônia Observatory into a radio transmission station for the filming of the documentary Cine Cipó. The film follows the journey of two community leaders from the Resex Tapajós-Arapiuns to the scientific observatory in Amazonas. The recordings were made in the structure, coordinated by the National Amazon Research Institute and the Max Planck Institute, which is dedicated to collecting atmospheric data for scientific research. The project was commissioned by the Critical Zones exhibition at the ZKM Art and Media Centre, curated by Bruno Latour and Peter Wiebel.
