Aborto e mortalidade

Science outreach / Journalism

A woman dies every two days from an unsafe abortion in Brazil. Although this is a right guaranteed by law (in cases of rape, fetal anencephaly and risk to the mother’s life), Brazilian women do not have quick access to information or to the service itself. The report, published in the magazine Gênero e Número and in Salud con Lupa (produced in Peru, for Latin America), investigates how science can contribute with a technical approach to the problem of abortion as a public health issue, advancing the discussion beyond the political and moral issues that restrict the circulation of information and the availability and equipment of legal abortion services.
