Logbook: scientific narratives in the Ocean Decade
Life Sciences, Podcast

The project aims to build narratives about scientific practice from a diary produced during field research by biologist Rodolfo Nascimento. The research will take place in 2024, with an expedition that will collect and identify biological material at various points along the Brazilian coast. The expedition will bring together a multidisciplinary team to describe the functioning of marine biodiversity and its mechanisms.

In partnership with Nathália Cariatti from NCF Produções and Lucas Andrade from Alô, Ciência, the project will also transform the field research into an audio and visual logbook in the form of a podcast and an interactive map, bringing to the public the daily life and work of a Brazilian scientist in the field.

Sinal de Vida
Science outreach / Podcast

What would you do if your mission was to find a being from another world? Actually, a being that lives in an environment humans have never inhabited: the deep sea? In the podcast “Sinal de Vida” (Sign of Life), two biologists in existential crisis, Gabi Longo and Lucas Andrade, travel to an island searching for an enigmatic species: the spotted ray. For a month, the duo narrates their logbooks, detailing their challenges, fears, and life-changing experiences—along with the steps leading them to an incredible and unprecedented recording of the ray. All of this takes place on a paradise island with a past of suffering, mysteries, and events that have become part of the country’s history.
